2023 ECCK Delegation to Europe
In September, the ECCK White Paper 2023 was published and ECCK has been holding meetings with the Korean authorities to brief some of the industry-related issues and recommendations included in this year’s White Paper followed by the Press Conference on September 21st, where ECCK shared the key messages with the public and ECCK members. To further expand this effort, the ECCK travelled to Europe from September 1st to 11th to brief the European stakeholders about the business environment in Korea.
The ECCK’s delegation to Europe consisted of Vice Chairperson Per Stenius, President Christoph Heider and succeeding president Stefan Ernst as well as the Head of Committee operations from the ECCK Secretariat.
First, on September 1, the delegation went to Geneva to meet up with representatives from the United Nations Conference of Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the World Trade Organization (WTO) and having a meeting with Frank Buechel, Deputy Secretary-General of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA). Also, visited International Labour Organization (ILO) and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to have meetings with representatives of the organisations.

On September 6, Meeting with Luisa Santos, Deputy Secretary-General for the Business Europe
On September 6, Meeting with H.E Ryu Jeong-hyun, Ambassador to Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Kingdom of Belgium and the European Union and Permanent Mission to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization
On September 7, Meeting with Tsai-wei Chao-Muller, Director for Digital Trade Policy & International Affairs at DigitalEurope
On September 7, Meeting with Carmen Preising, Head of Cabinet to the Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries
On September 8, Meeting with Jon Pareliussen, Head of Korea/Sweden Desk, Economics Department at OECD
Through this series of meetings and discussions with the European government officials, we believe to help their understanding and interest in Korea and look forward to continued cooperation!
