Philippe Van Hoof Country Manager, ING Korea

Philippe van Hoof is the Country Manager of ING Bank N.V. in Seoul since August 2021. Prior to that, he was ING’s Head of Financial Institutions APAC, based in Singapore, and has been a member of the Asia Pacific Senior Management Team since 2017. Philippe has more than 30 years of banking experience, including over 15 years in Singapore, Korea and Japan. In addition to managing strategic relationships with banks, Philippe has extensive experience in covering insurers, asset managers, securities companies and sovereign wealth funds at executive/board level on a wide range of strategic topics. A Belgian citizen, Philippe joined the ECCK as a member from 2021 and was elected in June 2022 as a Chairperson of ECCK’s Sustainability Committee. He then was appointed as a Chairperson of the ECCK in June 2023. While he was based in Singapore, Philippe was the chairman of Eurocham Singapore’s Financial Services Committee until 2018, and later served as Vice President from April 2019 until July 2021.

Mathias Vaitl  President & CEO, Mercedes-Benz Korea 

Mr. Mathias Vaitl has been appointed as President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Korea from September 1, 2023. Mr. Vaitl graduated with Diploma (FH) in Business Administration from Nuertingen-Geislingen University (HfWU) specializing in Automotive Industry and International Business Management in 2005, and in the same year, he joined Mercedes-Benz as a Business Manager for Dealer Network at its subsidiary in Prague, Czech Republic. Mathias Vaitl has extensive automotive experience in Digital Services, Sales, Training & Qualification, as well as Customer Services and Network Development in German, Chinese and Czech Republic markets.

Per Stenius Chairman & CEO, Reddal Dr. Per Stenius has served as Director of Reddal Korea and as Chairman and CEO of Reddal Inc. since 2010. He has over 25 years of experience in strategy and process development across multiple industries. Throughout his career, he has worked as a top management consultant and executive, with positions at McKinsey & Company, Accenture, Stratos Ventures, and several technology companies. Per holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara, a Master’s in Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and an M.Sc. in Engineering from Helsinki University of Technology. He has published over 30 articles in leading business and scientific journals and served as an Adjunct Professor at the Seoul School of Integrated Sciences & Technologies. He now also serves as Visting Professor in Strategy at Yonsei University, Graduate School of Business. Per, along with Reddal Korea, joined the ECCK as a member in October 2020.

Go Young Moon Country Chair, RWE Renewables

Go Young Moon has been the Co-CEO and Country Chair of RWE Renewables Korea, a German offshore wind power developer, since November 2020. He has over 28 years of industrial experience in various energy sectors, including technology and business development in offshore wind, solar power, battery energy storage systems, hydrogen fuel cells, waste-to-energy, and water treatment membrane industries. Throughout his career, he has served as a technology development leader, professor, and business development leader at leading Korean entities such as LG, LS, POSCO, Kongju National University, and Hanyang University. Go Young holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. He has published 23 papers in SCI journals and has actively participated as a speaker and board member at various conferences, forums, and institutions, delivering over 60 invited lectures on energy technology topics. Go Young, along with RWE Renewables Korea, joined the ECCK as a member in 2021 and has served as Chairperson of the ECCK Energy & Environment Committee since 2022.

Gayoung Lee Managing Director, Knoell Korea Ltd. Gayoung Lee, a Korean citizen, has served as the Managing Director of knoell Korea since the company’s establishment in January 2016. Gayoung holds a master’s degree in Environmental Management and Environmental Economics from University of York in the UK. Prior to joining knoell, she worked primarily as a consultant in the fields of sustainability and climate change over a decade. Since joining knoell, she has been actively working in the area of chemical regulatory affairs.

Ana-Maria Boie General Manager and Head of Human Pharma at Boehringer Ingelheim Korea

Dr. Ana-Maria Boie, a Romanian national, serves as the General Manager and Head of Human Pharma at Boehringer Ingelheim Korea. With over 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, she has held leadership roles across general management, marketing, sales, and ESG at local, regional, and global levels. She earned her medical degree from the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy and later completed an Executive MBA at Tiffin University, enhancing her expertise in both medical and business domains. Since joining Boehringer Ingelheim in 2009, she has worked in Romania, Austria, Russia, and Germany, leading key business strategies and contributing to the company’s global sustainability initiatives. In 2024, she was elected as Chairperson of the ECCK Healthcare Committee, where she advocates for industry collaboration and healthcare advancements in Korea.

Bjørn Inge Braathen  Country Managing Director, Equinor Korea

Bjørn Inge Braathen has served as the Country Managing Director of Equinor Korea since May 2023. He has lived and worked in Norway, Canada, and the USA. After completing a Cand. Scient. degree in Applied Geophysics at the University of Oslo in Norway, he began his career at Norsk Hydro, working in the North Sea exploration department. An accomplished senior executive with more than 28 years of experience in the energy sector, Mr. Braathen has significant international experience across Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America. He has led multi-functional, culturally diverse organizations and has extensive experience in board positions and capital market communications. Mr. Braathen has held various leadership roles, including Vice President of Exploration Strategy and Portfolio, Senior Vice President of Exploration North America, Senior Vice President of International Exploration Onshore, and Vice President of Renewable Portfolio Commercial and Valuation, before assuming responsibility for Equinor’s activities in Korea.

Robert Browell Partner, Samil PricewaterhouseCoopers

Robert Browell, a British citizen, is a partner at Samil PricewaterhouseCoopers, the Korean member firm of PwC and the largest professional services organization in Korea. He has over 20 years of experience providing services to multinational clients, including numerous European groups operating across a wide range of industries. Robert spent the first 10 years of his career with PwC in the UK before joining PwC Korea in 2012. He currently serves as the Chairperson of the Taxation Committee at the European Chamber of Commerce in Korea and as a Special Advisor to the British Chamber of Commerce in Korea.

Johan Vandromme Senior Advisor, Kim & Chang

Johan Vandromme, a Belgian citizen, has been a senior advisor with Kim & Chang since October 2020, having previously served in the same role from 2007 to 2009. He began his career in Brussels in 2001 as a case handler at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition, before moving to Korea in 2007. He left private practice in 2009 to rejoin the European Commission at the Delegation in Beijing, where he covered trade and competition matters, before returning to Korea in 2013 to serve at the Seoul Delegation. Prior to returning to Kim & Chang in 2020, he served at the Beijing Delegation from 2018, focusing on competition and justice policies for the Commission.
