ACRC Policy Meeting for Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Korea
On April 17, ECCK President Stefan Ernst and Vice President Bo Sun Kim attended ACRC (Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission) Roundtable Meeting with the Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Korea to listen to difficulties related to business activities and to introduce anti-corruption policies to create a clean society for the betterment of business environment.
Fortunately, the revised ‘Enforcement Decree of the Anti-Graft Act’ was passed, raising the amount to 50,000 won, and it has been effective since August 27, 2024, right after the last ACRC meeting (June 28, 2024). ECCK deeply appreciates the ACRC’s efforts. And the Conflict-of-Interest Prevention Act is to prevent conflicts of interest that may arise during the performance of public officials’ duties by prohibiting the pursuit of private interests related to the performance of their duties, thereby ensuring fair performance of duties and securing public trust in public institutions. The Act has been in effect since May 19, 2022. ECCK considers that Korea is heading in the right direction and hopes this law will be well implemented.
