COVID-19 Update (March 2, 2022)
Vaccine Pass
As of March 1, 2022, South Korea is to suspend the COVID-19 vaccine pass system nationwide. For the past few months, in order to enter public facilities, such as a restaurant, café, department store, etc. it was a must to scan a QR code which contains vaccination status.
With this newly implemented measure:
Vaccination certificates or negative test results are no longer required to be presented when entering above mentioned places.
Public health centers will no longer issue negative test results.
Implementation of vaccine pass system for minors under 18 & under will be put on hold.
However, according to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the suspension is only temporary and is subject to be reinstated if the COVID-19 situation further worsens.
Quarantine
The quarantine guidelines for those with close contacts of COVID-19 patients have also been changed. All persons living with the COVID-19 patients are subject to passive monitoring regardless of the vaccination status.
Before, it was mandatory for unvaccinated individuals living with the confirmed patient to go through a quarantine for 7 days, and those who have been vaccinated were not obligated to do so. However, as of March 1, regardless of their vaccination status, the quarantine obligation has been lifted, with passive monitoring.
