ECCK Breakfast Meeting with Foreign Investment Ombudsman Kim Doo-Sik
On September 11, the ECCK held the Breakfast Meeting with Foreign Investment Ombudsman Kim Doo-Sik. Ombudsman Kim is an expert in international arbitration and international trade law. He had represented the government in numerous trade negotiations and dispute resolutions between countries and received the Industrial Service Medal in recognition of his contributions to trade remedies.
The Foreign Investment Ombudsman system was first introduced in 1999 to support the grievance resolution of foreign-invested companies operating in Korea. The Foreign Investment Ombudsman is appointed by the President, and the Ombudsman and the OFIO (Office of Foreign Investment Office) collect and analyze difficulties or grievances faced by foreign-invested companies, request cooperation from relevant Ministries and Agencies, and support the grievance resolution of foreign-invested companies. In the Q&A session, ECCK member participants and Ombudsman Kim had actively exchanged their opinions and comments on the business environment of foreign-invested companies in Korea. Finally, Ombudsman Kim promised to keep collaborating with the ECCK members to resolve the difficulties and grievances.
