On December 11, ECCK held Breakfast Meeting with MOEL (Ministry of Employment and Labor) Minister Kim Moon Soo. Minister Kim shared his insights and views on Korean Employment and labor policy direction. Minister Kim is striving to create more jobs and create a safer and more secure workplace by achieving labor reform. Minister Kim has emphasized that it is a high time for labor reform to be rushed in line with the changing times, since the fertility rate is so low, and the industry is changing as well as wage system and working hour system in Korea are quite rigid.
MOEL announced a plan to reorganize the salary system to a job and performance-based wage system. Also, MOEL is working on standards for which industries should be flexible in applying the 52-hour work week system.
