ECCK Chairperson speaks at Korea Herald Biz Forum 2019
On October 11, ECCK Chairperson Dimitris Psillakis delivered the keynote speech at the Korea Herald Biz Forum 2019 “Korea in crisis: How to survive in an era of trade wars and industrial risks.” Attended by 200 government officials, business representatives and leaders, including Joh Sung-wook, Korea Fair Trade Commissioner, and Kwon Pyung-oh, CEO of KOTRA, Chairperson Psillakis spoke about the need for interactive communication and cooperation between the government and private sectors for decision-making in times of uncertainty and tough challenges.
In his speech, Chairperson Psillakis emphasized the significance of adoption and application of international standards in the Korean regulatory environment. “With application of international standards, Korea will provide a conducive environment to encourage the inflow of foreign capital and technology, as well as further strengthen the competitiveness of Korea’s industries in the global market.”, said Chairperson Psillakis. He also noted, “businesses must ultimately recognize, that it is in their own interest to self-regulate, create proper, transparent and strict rules of internal governance, which safeguards compliance to industry or country rules and regulations, and promotes an integrated and fair company operation practice”, stressing what businesses need to do in order to create a transparent and responsible market.
