A leading driver and strong advocate for European Businesses in Korea
ECCK Co-Organized Expert Dialogue Session ‘Smart Grids for Renewable Age’ Hosted by EU Delegation
On 23 April , the EU delegation hosted an expert dialogue session on the topic of Smart Grids at the Four Seasons hotel Seoul. The event, organised by the ECCK and Asian Insiders Korea, brought together 25 EU and Korean experts in Smart Grids. Opening remarks were given by Phillippe Van Hoof, the chairperson of ECCK and Country Manager of IGN Bank N.V. Seoul.
The event, named ‘Smart Grids for Renewable Age’, focused on the development and challenges associated with upgrading electricity grids to accommodate the growing input of renewable energy source into national grids. Both the EU and Korea have major projects ongoing in this field, and increased dialogue between both sides is seen as very positive by participants at the event.
The event included four policy presentations, two from EU side and two from Korean side, as well as four corporate presentations covering smart grids for data centers, microgrids, smart grid use cases and key trends in Korean smart grid development. Following the presentations, a lively panel discussion took place, with some discussions continuing over dinner. Among the participants were major policy experts from both sides, as well as key corporate specialists in different aspects of smart grids.
This activity is part of the European Union Climate Dialogues (EUCDs) project and is funded by the EU. The program will continue in May with a similar session on Green Hydrogen and in June with a session on Clean Mobility.
