This week, a delegation of ECCK Board members and representatives of the secretariat is visiting pertinent counterparts in Brussels and Geneva in order to discuss the business environment in Korea and handover the White Paper 2018. On the first day of the visit, the delegation, led by ECCK Chairman Dimitris Psillakis, met with expert staff of DG Trade, the cabinet of DG Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström, the cabinet of DG Grow Commissioner Elżbieta Bieńkowska as well as Korean Ambassador to the EU Hyoung-Zhin Kim, KOTRA Brussels General Director Mr. Jang Hee Lee and KITA Brussels Center Executive Director Mr. Youn Woo Park. On November 20, the ECCK Delegation to Brussels presented the 2018 White Paper to EU Commissioner for Agriculture & Rural Development, Mr. Phil Hogan. Additionally, the delegation shared its insights with the Brussels-based industry interest organizations European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), spiritsEUROPE and BusinessEurope. Also, the delegation met with Mr. Risto Artjoki, Head of Cabinet of European Commission Vice-President Jyrki Katainen, Mr. Jean Michel Grave, Head of Unit at DG Taxation and Customs Union as well as various expert level staff at DG Grow on the following day. Additionally, ECCK discussed pertinent issues in the field of chemicals with Mr. Rene van Sloten, the Executive Director for Industrial Policy at CEFIC. On November 23 the ECCK Delegation visited Geneva. During this day, ECCK met with officials at the European Free Trade Association, the World Trade Organization, the World Intellectual Property Organization as well as industry. The discussions have increased the officials’ interest in Korea and ECCK is looking forward to enhanced cooperation going forward.
