ECCK Head Vows to Support Korea’s Efforts for a Predictable Business Environment.
Seoul, Korea – January 9, 2014
Representatives of foreign chambers of commerce and CEOs of international firms shared opinions to improve Korea’s investment environment during a meeting with President Park Geun-hye on January 9, 2014.
While offering suggestions for foreign investment promotion, Thilo Halter, president of the ECCK, voiced for a ‘predictable business and regulatory environment.’ “We have raised our voice on various issues. The single theme that summarizes all our suggestions and opinions is predictability,” said Mr Halter.
Along this line, Mr Halter described a few issues that have been of concern among the foreign business community. Among others, a ‘proposed’ amendment to tax law for foreign workers and the increase in complexity in audit process have been mentioned.
Mr Halter expressed his gratitude for an opportunity to exchange candid opinions with the Korean Government.
“European investors and the Korean economy will mutually benefit from a predictable business environment. We will do our best to support Korea’s effort to shape a better investment environment,” he added.
