On September 24, the ECCK hosted and organized the 7th Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Conference at Seoul Dragon City. With a distinct focus on future technologies, this year’s edition of the IPR Conference was co-hosted by the European Patent Office (EPO) and Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO). Also, it was supported by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Hoffmann Eitle, Mewburn Ellis and Bae, Kim & Lee LLC. The morning session was held under the theme of ‘Intellectual Property for Future Technologies’, featuring presentations from several industry experts including Dr. Hyojeong Lim (Associate Research Fellow at the Korean Institute of Intellectual Property), Mr. Gareth Lord (Director of Mobility & Mechatronics, Mr. Anthony Chang (Foreign Attorney at Bae, Kim & Lee) and Mr. Sangheum Cho (Deputy Director of the IP Protection Policy Division at the KIPO). A panel discussion was held after the speeches. In the afternoon, the conference revolved around two break-out sessions: ‘Key Aspects to Patenting New Technologies’ and ‘New Approaches to Tackling Counterfeits’. During these sessions, specialists from both the public and the private sectors presented on pertinent developments in the field of IPR in Korea and Europe. We’d like to thank all of the speakers and attendees for their interest and support. More pictures of the event can be found on our Flickr page.
