ECCK Information Session: Empowering Women Leaders in Korea
On November 19, 2024, the ECCK held an engaging Information Session on Women Leadership at the Embassy of Switzerland in the Republic of Korea, with a warm welcome extended by H.E. Dagmar Schmidt Tartaglia.
The session featured a distinguished panel of speakers, including H.E. Emilia Gatto, Ambassador of Italy to Korea; HeeYoung Chung, General Manager of LEGO Korea; Isabel Puig Palerm, CEO and CSO of IKEA Korea Ltd.; and ECCK Chairperson Philippe van Hoof, who served as the moderator. This event brought together professionals to discuss evolving leadership paradigms, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace, with a particular focus on the unique challenges and opportunities faced by women leaders in Korea.
During the session, both the speakers and the audience shared reflections on the evolving role and status of women in the workplace. While acknowledging significant progress, there was consensus that these changes have been slow, prompting discussions on what immediate actions can be taken. The dialogue also explored redefining leadership itself and how to highlight and leverage the unique strengths of women’s leadership to drive further acceptance and influence.
In his closing remarks, ECCK President Stefan Ernst expressed gratitude to the panelists for sharing their personal insights and valuable recommendations. He announced plans to host similar sessions quarterly starting next year, noting the growing popularity of discussions on women’s leadership and the increasing contributions of women across various industries.
Additionally, ECCK is preparing to launch a regular forum with a closely related theme: the Family-Friendly Future Forum. This initiative, set to debut on November 26, will promote best practices for fostering inclusive workplace cultures through collaboration with corporations, academia, and government organizations.
These initiatives reflect ECCK’s strong commitment to fostering dialogue and action on leadership and equality. Stay tuned for upcoming ECCK events that promise valuable insights and experiences!
