ECCK & KATS discusses on Electrical Appliances and Consumer Products Safety Control Act
On April 16, the ECCK held a meeting with Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) at Seoul Square building. Attended by members of the Kitchen & Home Appliances Committee, Fashion & Retail Committee, and Cosmetics Committee at the ECCK, the day’s meeting was to share opinions on the newly-announced legislation on Electrical Appliances and Consumer Products Safety Control Act.
On December 29, 2017, the recent amendments to the Act was approved by the National Assembly and will be implemented starting from July 1, 2018. Some of the main changes include:
Expand product categories exempted from testing and KC Mark labeling requirements (Safety Standard Compliance for Consumer Products)
Provide exemptions from KC Mark labeling requirements for transactions of certain product categories using a Purchasing Agent
Provide exemptions from Safety Certification requirements for products from Parallel Importation
Opinions raised during the meeting will further be discussed with relevant sectors in KATS with other stakeholders for further development prior to the final announcement. We would like to thank our committee members and KATS for their valuable inputs. As always, the ECCK continuously strives to improve our services as the major communication platform for the European business community.
