On July 2, ECCK held the first meeting of its newly established Compliance Forum. This Forum follows the challenges compliance officers and general counsels face in remaining informed of the high number of regulations in Korea as well as any developments in the field of compliance. In order to alleviate such burden, the Compliance Forum will serve as a platform for information exchange and substantive discussion on a range of compliance matters. The first meeting was hosted by Schaeffler Korea and was attended by compliance experts from a range of industries. The topic of the first meeting was criminal liability and expert speakers Ms Liz Kyo-Hwa Chung, Mr Samuel Yim and Mr Kyson Keebong Paek, attorneys at Kim & Chang, provided an overview on corporate criminal liability in Korea and gave a number recommendations for companies’ compliance systems. The second meeting for the Compliance Forum will be held after the summer holiday period and details will be announced in due course.
