ECCK Luncheon Meeting with EU Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič
On April 17, 2026, the ECCK hosted a luncheon meeting with EU Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič.
About 10 CEOs from various industries who are members of ECCK attended the event and conveyed current issues to him. This occasion served as an opportunity for ECCK Chairperson Philippe van Hoof and the Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič to share a common understanding of the importance of a “third way”. By cooperating, the EU and Korea can carve out a “third way” in international relations and economic security, which reduces excessive dependence on the two Great Powers rivalry and instead builds a cooperative framework centered on openness, sustainability, and mutual respect. The ECCK emphasized that it would be able to more faithfully fulfill its role as a bridge between the EU and Korea. And the Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič also mentioned that he looks forward to such a role for the ECCK.
