ECCK Meets Lithuanian Business Delegation, Discusses Market Entry Issues

The European Chamber of Commerce in Korea (ECCK) welcomed the Lithuanian business delegation and had a meeting on October 15, 2014 to brief about business environment in Korea at the ECCK office. Officials from Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) also joined to present market entry information.
Led by H.E. Loreta Grauziniene, Speaker of the Lithuanian Parliament, the business delegation is comprised of 13 prominent politicians and officials, including Mr Gediminas Kirkilas, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Mr Andrius Kubilius, Leader of the Opposition party, Mr Saulius Cironka, Vice-Minister of Agriculture, and Ambassador Lina Antanaviciene.
The ECCK was represented by Thilo Halter, the chamberÛªs President and CEO of MAN Truck & Bus Korea, Michael Reed, Trustee of the ECCK and Country Head of Fidelity Worldwide Investment, and Christoph Heider, the ECCK Secretary-General.
Expected to join the Eurozone in 2015, Lithuania is seeking further economic ties and business relations with Korea. The country also tries to diversify its trade relations with Asian countries particularly in the wake of the Ukraine crisis and subsequent economic sanctions imposed on Russia.
At the meeting, the Lithuanian delegation showed strong interest in market entry issues, business culture in Korea, and the agricultural products market. The ECCK representatives explained the general economic and regulatory situation in Korea while offering useful advice on market entry. In the second session, Director General Chung Gwangyoung of KOTRA delivered a comprehensive presentation on KoreaÛªs business environment for the delegation.
The ECCK supports European business missions interested in expanding into the Korean market by arranging meetings with relevant government agencies, helping establish good liaisons with industry experts, and/or organizing information sessions.
