ECCK President Meets with EFTA Secretary-General in Geneva
Stefan Ernst, President of the European Chamber of Commerce in Korea (ECCK), met with EFTA Secretary-General Kurt Jӓger and Deputy Secretary-General Markus Schlagenhof on 25 October 2024 in Geneva. The meeting took place on the occasion of the ECCK’s annual release of its White Paper, a critical document representing the interests of European businesses in Korea, including companies from both EU and EFTA member states.
During the discussions, President Ernst formally submitted the White Paper, which includes over 70 key policy recommendations across 17 committees for consideration by the Korean Government. The ECCK and EFTA representatives exchanged views on recent policy developments within both the EFTA States and Korea, deliberated on bilateral economic relations, and explored opportunities for future collaboration—all with a shared commitment to strengthening EFTA–Korea free trade relations.
South Korea is a key trading partner for EFTA, ranking as its fifth largest export and seventh largest import partner for goods. In 2022, total trade between EFTA and South Korea reached USD 7.24 billion.
