A leading driver and strong advocate for European Businesses in Korea
ECCK Signs MoU with KEAD to Promote Inclusive Employment and ESG Practices
On April 21, the European Chamber of Commerce in Korea and Korea Employment Agency for Persons with Disabilities signed a Memorandum of Understanding at KEAD’s Assistive Technology Center to promote the employment of persons with disabilities and strengthen ESG practices among businesses in Korea.
The agreement was signed by Lee Jong-seong Chairman of KEAD and Stefan Ernst President of ECCK with both organisations reaffirming their shared commitment to expanding employment opportunities for persons with disabilities and fostering a more inclusive business environment.
During the signing ceremony, the two organisations discussed the growing importance of disability employment and practical ways to connect companies with qualified talent through stronger corporate networks and tailored support measures. Both sides agreed that disability employment should not be viewed merely as a legal obligation, but also as an important part of sustainable management and responsible business practices.
As a platform representing European businesses in Korea, ECCK is expected to play an important bridging role between its member companies and disability employment initiatives, drawing on its extensive network of European companies operating in the Korean market.
Under the MoU, the two organisations agreed to strengthen cooperation in a number of areas, including promotion, education, and policy dissemination aimed at expanding disability employment among ECCK member companies; tailored consulting and job development support for companies seeking to hire persons with disabilities; cooperation on policy development and institutional improvement related to disability employment; and the implementation of joint initiatives and collaborative programmes. In addition, as a follow-up to the agreement, KEAD will participate in the upcoming ECCK Sustainability Awards, where it will introduce the organisation and present its disability employment consulting programmes. The event is expected to provide a valuable opportunity to further strengthen cooperation with businesses and raise awareness of inclusive employment practices.
Chairperson Lee stated, “This agreement will serve as an opportunity to present a new model for expanding disability employment through corporate partnership networks. We will continue to pursue both quantitative and qualitative growth in disability employment through broader private-sector cooperation.”
President Ernst stated, “ECCK will continue to work together with its member companies to promote social responsibility and contribute to the development of a more inclusive employment environment.”
