ECCK Taxation Forum Activities in 2018
Mr Sang-do Lee from Samil PwC, the new Chairman of the ECCK Taxation Forum, and the ECCK met to discuss about the activities of the forum in 2018. Below is a summary of what was discussed during the meeting.
ECCK Taxation Forum Information Sessions
The ECCK plans to have three general information sessions primarily on the Korean tax system as roughly outlined below.
• April: Tax Amendment 2018
• September: Proposed Tax Amendments 2019
• November: General Introduction for newly arrived C-Level Executives into Tax & Customs
ECCK Industry Specific Tax Sessions
The ECCK plans to conduct two industry specific tax sessions per year, e.g. Taxation in the automotive industry. The initiation is to be driven by the ECCK’s industry committees.
Other (Information) Session – Overseas Visitors
The ECCK will explore further opportunities whether if overseas visitors with special knowledge on tax systems will be available and willing to share their expertise with the members of the ECCK Taxation Forum. This might include – among others – also information session on the European Union’s strategy on corporate income tax including cross-border transactions.
Other (Information) Session – NTS
The ECCK will reach out to the NTS to confirm if there is common ground to arrange an official information session, round table or other meetings.
ECCK White Paper on Taxation
The ECCK White Paper gets published once a year; usually around the beginning of November. In 2018, the compilation of comments on tax amendments shall be driven by a core-team. The core-team shall consist of max 10 people from business and tax firms.
