Invitation to event to help launch the Korea branch of the Anti-Malaria Foundation (May 31)
You are invited to an event to help launch the Korea branch of the British charity, the Anti Malaria Foundation.
Against Malaria Foundation(AMF) is a very special charity, both for the fantastic work it does saving lives in some of the poorest parts of the world by distributing anti-malaria bed nets, and for the highly effective, evidenced based way in which they track and ensure their impact. Unfortunately, up to now it has been complicated to donate to charities like AMF from Korea, so over the last year a small team of supporters drawn from the Britain-Korea community in Seoul have been working with AMF to establish a branch of AMF here in Korea. Doing so will make it much easier to donate to AMF locally which is hoped will drive significantly more donations from Korea.
They are in the final stages of the establishment process that involves identifying 100 promoters as part of the application that will be submitted to the Seoul Metropolitan Government. This is where your help is needed!
Request for help
To establish a charity like AMF in Korea, it needs to be demonstrated to the government that there is substantial local support for such an initiative. This means gathering the signatures of over 100 ‘promoters’ – people of any nationality living in Korea who want to see AMF Korea established. These need to be gathered in person (or via Power of Attorney) at a ‘Promotion Meeting’, details below.
Please note that promoters are under no obligation or liability, legal or otherwise to the charity now or in the future. Because this is a formal process, there are some requirements for promoters, the most onerous being the need to provide a certificate of your personal seal (Korean nationals, or those foreign nationals in possession of a recognised personal seal) or notarisation of your signature. Promoters also need to provide some basic biographical information including name, address and a line or two on their professional/educational background, all of which can be provided in a couple of minutes via the registration form. All personal information will be treated in confidence and will be provided to the Seoul Metropolitan Government for the purpose of the application, but will not be published or otherwise shared further.
The British Ambassador has kindly offered the use of the Aston Hall at the British Embassy for this purpose (but please note AMF is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Embassy). The event is sponsored by AMF Korea partner PwCand Gorilla Brewery. The first drink of the evening will be free and the Embassy’s exclusive Broughton’s Bar will be open for those wishing to stay thereafter.
Thanks so much for taking the time to consider this request, and we hope to see many of you later in the month!
