London Speaker Bureau shares with the ECCK members an interview with Dr. Mark van Rijmenam where he talks about emerging technologies and digital transformation – from both an ethical and a professional, brand perspective. The digital age in which we live is seeing exponential technological change, therefore engaging with an expert on this topic is highly valuable and generally concerns everyone.
00:16 – Who are you and what do you do?
01:00 – What is your view on Quantum Computing?
02:43 – What should we expect regarding the Metaverse? How might it change the way we work, shop, socialize, etc.?
05:22 – What is the future of cryptocurrencies and the role they will play in our daily lives?
07:21 – How does the BCI (Brain-Computer Interfaces) work?
09:57 – Will all these new technologies emerging – how does Ethics work alongside them?
Dr. Mark van Rijmenam is known as “The Digital Speaker” for many reasons, one being that he delivers some of his speeches using a hologram/avatar, which allows him to reach audiences globally, creating a more dynamic experience. He is the founder of Datafloq, a leading content platform on emerging technologies and has written 3 books on big data, blockchain and AI. Dr. Mark van Rijmenam dives into topics from Quantum Computing to the Metaverse, while analysing how they will impact organisations and society.
His upcoming book, “Step into the Metaverse” is set to release in 2022, which describes how our identity will change in the Metaverse and how brands should interact with it – “if brands don’t participate in this change, they will lose out”. The Metaverse essentially “converges the virtual world and the physical world” in a revolutionary way, by allowing a 3D experience of this digital space.
Mark discusses the future of cryptocurrencies and NFT’s, “we are moving from a world where we are dependent on big tech, big corporations and banks, to a world involving peer to peer transactions”. Another emerging technology he explores are Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCI), which allows individuals to control their computer with their thoughts.
With these exciting developments in technology, comes various concerns regarding ethics. Dr. Mark van Rijmenam tackles these complex issues in his podcast, using it as a medium to tell a story orientating around “how do we create ethical AI, how do we build AI that is unbiased, fair and responsible”, as what is ethical for one person, is not necessarily ethical for another, and what is ethical today, may not be ethical in the future. Mark explores all this and more in the interview.
