Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international independent medical humanitarian organization created in 1971, provides medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, natural disasters, or exclusion from health care. MSF runs humanitarian programs in around 460 projects worldwide.
MSF opened its office in the Republic of Korea in 2012, based in Seoul. The MSF Korea office focuses on four key pillars: (1) fundraising from Korean donors to directly support MSF medical humanitarian activities, (2) recruitment of skilled Korean medical and non-medical staff to dispatch to MSF field projects, (3) communications to the Korean public on global humanitarian crises and urgent health emergencies, (4) outreach to Korean stakeholders and policymakers in support of international community engagement and action related with MSF social mission.
<Purpose of the Position>
In close cooperation with the Fundraising Director, Communication Director, Human Resources Director and Head of Finance and Compliance, this position aims to maximize engagement with the Korean audiences and support the MSF’s social mission through digital channels and tools. The Head of the digital unit is responsible for developing a strategic vision for MSF Korea digital engagement, coordinate and develop MSF Korea websites and social media channels and lead online marketing strategies and analytics as well as providing advice and innovation on digital engagement trends and best practices.
This strategy will be implemented in coordinated activities aiming to:
– increase the digital fundraising;
– expand the visibility of MSF and its medical humanitarian work and principles towards the public in South Korea;
– provide visibility and support to the recruitment of field international and HQHR staff
2. Main Duties and Responsibilities
<Responsibilities>
– General Duties- As a member of the MSF Korea Management Team, the Head of Digital will:
Develop and be accountable for the strategic digital direction of MSF Korea and meeting our global objectives,
Define the midterm/long term vision and strategy for MSF’s fundraising, communication, HR translating them into action plans based on digital perspectives,
Be accountable for delivering relevant digital objectives on time and appropriately manage the associated budgets take corrective actions when necessary.
– Main responsibilities
Lead, advise, design the digital strategies to achieve fundraising objectives (donor acquisition, lead generation, philanthropy, legacies etc…); for digital content dissemination through social media, websites and other digital channels; for the HR recruitment
Ensure digital support and advice are provided to public engagement events and campaigns as well as integrated campaigns with multiple objectives
Lead the digital team and implement the digital activities in line with the business plan and annual plan of action in accordance with approved budget,
Lead definition, implementation and monitoring of KPIs for the unit and ensure comprehensive statistics and reports to identify risks, opportunities, and priorities,
Develop and hold accountability of the contents of digital production (Websites, SNS posts, digital promotion and advertisement, campaign, etc.)
Oversee the development of dashboard, and the production of reports and recommendations for improvement of online activities and digital marketing campaigns,
Promote standards and procedures to guarantee quality and coherence of MSF Korea messages on digital platforms and yet provide best solutions for achieving different objectives
Oversee development of analytic tools and ensure tracking integration with online analysis tools,
Oversee and ensure coherent and comprehensive development of MSF digital products and its integration with department tools,
Oversee the adequate websites for architecture and a correct organization of contents,
Ensure identification of technical problems and facilitate solutions with support of IT
Identify and propose new tools, application, innovative ideas to strengthen MSF digital engagement
Identify through an accurate selection process our digital providers / partners / contract and manage the contracts and vendors and ensure an optimized relationships with vendors
– Team Management
Lead team to create plans and oversees timely implementation, building accountability for success and failures. Analysis’s activities, costs, achievements to determine department progress towards stated goals and propose corrective actions when required
Hold regular departmental meetings to coordinate, monitor and review activities
Set clear attainable objectives for employees and evaluate the job performance accordingly in accordance with established MSF Korea procedures
Oversee relationships with all departmental vendors
Develops departmental budget in close cooperation with the MT. Implement and monitor closely departmental budget in accordance with MSF Korea policies and procedures
Responsibilities include quarterly report and budget review, signing and administering departmental contract and other administrative documents
– MSF Movement
Contribute to, shape, support and participate in global digital platform initiatives, strategies
Identify, design/lead/participate to cross sectional digital projects where MSF Korea could bring significant added value
Represent MSF Korea in any international communications conferences, seminars, if invited or seen necessary by the General Director.
3. Qualifications and Requirements
– Essential skills and experience
Commitment to the values, principles and MSF’s social mission
Degree in digital marketing and communications, Digital technologies or similar,
Minimum of seven years of digital and marketing experience with proven records of successes as well as conceptualizing, managing, and developing complex digital project and web structure,
Experience in designing, managing and implementing marketing and communication projects
Solid experience in formulating effective direct response digital campaigns in driving business results
Solid experience in web analytics
A proactive team player with team management experience
Ability to think strategically as well as tactically
Ability to think clearly analyze, synthetize and present complex information in a convincing, straightforward, and clear manner to a wide range of audiences and through multiple channels
Service orientation,
Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions including ability to read analysis and interpret professional and technical procedures
Work under pressure and respect deadlines
Language: Fluent in Korean and English
