A leading driver and strong advocate for European Businesses in Korea
[National Theater of Korea] Book of the Dead
Following its acclaimed premiere last year, Book of the Dead returns to the stage. With global interest in Korean traditional culture and beliefs in the afterlife heightened by Netflix’s hit K-pop Demon Hunters, this is a performance that no expatriate in Korea should miss.
Praised as “an intellectual and sensory scripture of dance” and selling out every seat at its premiere, the production is back by popular demand as the opening work of the 2025–2026 National Theater repertory season. Inspired by the Tibetan Bardo Thodol, the piece reimagines the soul’s 49-day journey after death through the choreography of Artistic Director Kim Jong-deok. Across three movements—Sea of Consciousness, Sea of Thought, and Sea of Tranquillity—the performance traces a passage through fear, memory, longing, and ultimately release, offering audiences a deeply moving reflection on life and beyond
