The Korea Fair Trade Commission and the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition will hold an international conference titled “Competition Law Enforcement in the Digital Economy” on Thursday, November 11, 2019
It takes place as competition authorities and governments consider the issues and challenges in assessing competition in the digital economy and what is required from the competition framework to promote innovation and consumer benefits.
Speakers from academia, the business sector and both the KFTC and DG Competition will discuss how the benefits of digitalisation can be realised for consumers and the broader economy. They will explore the range of challenges for competition authorities stemming from digitalisation and how authorities are tailoring some aspects of their approach to these markets. The speakers will also consider whether existing policy frameworks need to be adapted in response to digitalisation.
