A leading driver and strong advocate for European Businesses in Korea
IKEA DongBusan, first IKEA store in Busan and Gyeongnam
IKEA DongBusan, the fourth IKEA store in Korea and the first outside of the Seoul metropolitan area, opened its doors on February 13 and welcomed the many people living in the wider Busan area.
Under the IKEA vision “to create a better everyday life for the many people,” IKEA DongBusan aims to reach the many people of Busan and the wider Gyeongnam area with its inspiring home furnishing solutions, products and ideas, enabling them to love their homes and enjoy a happier life at home. Located in the heart of the OSIRIA Tourism Complex, IKEA DongBusan provides great accessibility from not only Haeundae and Busan City Hall, but also from nearby cities including Ulsan and Gimhae, bringing the IKEA experience closer to the many people living in the Yeongnam area.
Having conducted nearly one hundred home visits in the area, IKEA DongBusan features locally-relevant home furnishing solutions that best serve the real-life needs and dreams of its target customers. The new store aims to enable an easy start for people to try small changes with home furnishing that lead to a big difference in their everyday life, with nearly 10,000 exclusively-designed, affordable IKEA products. Based on the findings from the home visits that also showed many local residents live in old apartments and have needs for kitchen renovation and efficient storage solutions, IKEA DongBusan focuses on offering smart solutions and ideas related to kitchen, storing and organising. In addition, the new store will continue its efforts as a good neighbour, contributing to a healthier, happier and more sustainable community.
IKEA DongBusan has created nearly 500 meaningful jobs; with the average age of 35, the talented co-workers at IKEA DongBusan share a strong passion for home furnishing. 66% are female, and 93% are local residents of Busan.
“We are thrilled to finally open our doors and meet the many people of Busan and Gyeongnam,” said Magnus Norberg, IKEA DongBusan Market Manager. “At IKEA DongBusan, our focus is on becoming a great destination to visit with family and friends for a fun, convenient shopping experience.”
