Constructing multipurpose platforms for marine technology demonstration
(Project purpose) Localization of core equipment and materials of ships through marine technology demonstration
(Operating organization) Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute
(Project contents)
– Shipbuilding (5000-ton class ships)
– Establishing foundations and providing support for the demonstration/testing of ship equipment and materials
LNG fuel supply systems, LNG Bunkering systems, emission control systems, ballast water treatment systems
(Project timeline) Make business agreements and issue grants for operating expenses (May) Allocate an extra budget (July)
Establishing foundations & managing outposts for exports and repairs of shipbuilding equipment
(Project purpose) To provide support for the current shipbuilding equipment suppliers in dire need of expansion of exports to overcome the recession; to establish and operate overseas outposts for entering overseas markets and direct exporting
(Operating organization) Korea Marine Equipment Association
(Project contents) – Establish and operate export bases and repair & service centers
– Expand exports through utilization of experts
– Hold export conferences
– Establish and operate demand forecasting systems
– Find international buyers
– Provide education and training for service & repair engineers
(Future plans) Establish an outpost in Vladivostok, Russia (May)
Promoting the diversification of the shipbuilding and marine equipment industry: Supporting the acquisition of technical standard certifications
(Project purpose) To overcome the crisis following the contracts plunge in the shipbuilding and marine equipment industry; to strengthen the competition through a) diversification of the industry and b) providing support for the acquisition of technical standard certifications in regard to conversion to on-land technology
(Operating organization) Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute
(Project contents) – Provide support for passing official tests and evaluations, acquiring standard certifications, and marketing
– Host information sessions
(Project timeline) Selection of businesses to receive funding (May) provide technical guidance and support the acquisition of international certifications for selected companies (July)
